Introducing Inkjet Relief Printing on the DXonJet Wall Printer
September 29, 2025After extensive testing and careful selection of suppliers, the DXonJet team has successfully integrated a reliable helical rack and pinion system (also known as a gear tooth or belt-less system) into its wall printers. This new linear motion drive offers a smoother, quieter, and more efficient performance, especially under high loads and over long distances.
The system is now available as an upgrade for existing DXonJet customers, and new customers can choose it as an option when ordering a new machine.
Key Advantages of The Helical Rack And Pinion System

1
Smooth And Quiet Operation
The angled teeth of a helical rack engage the pinion more gradually than straight-cut racks. This results in a smoother, continuous rolling motion as the gears mesh, which significantly reduces noise and vibration during printing. This is a huge advantage for high-speed vertical wall printing.
2
Higher Load Capacity And Stiffness
In a helical system, multiple teeth are engaged at once, which distributes the load over a larger surface area. This provides a much higher load capacity and increased stiffness. This robustness makes the system ideal for wall printers that need to handle heavy print heads for Y-axis motion.

3
Unlimited Travel Length
Helical racks can be joined end-to-end to create a linear path of virtually any length. Since the helix angle is consistent, the transition between rack segments is seamless, ensuring smooth and accurate motion over very long distances. This feature allows DXonJet wall printers to print smoothly and stably over 4 meters high.
4
Improved Accuracy And Repeatability
Helical racks can be manufactured with extremely high precision and very low tooth pitch errors. When paired with a preloaded pinion, these systems can effectively eliminate backlash, which is crucial for applications like wall printing that demand high positioning accuracy and repeatability.
